    Spring + Summer Happenings in Moab

    Staying at Field Station Moab this spring or summer? Here are our fave, not-to-miss happenings to help you plan a trip packed with good times.

    MAY 13

    THELMA & LOUISE MARATHON, HALF MARATHON + 15K

    Talk about the ultimate girls weekend. Grab your running shoes and your BFs for this outlaw-style fun run on Behind the Rocks. Part of the Run Moab Series, the courses offer a variety of terrain — sandy washes, a technical doubletrack, and smooth jeep trails — that’s perfect for all runners. 

    MAY 18

    REEL ROCK 17 FILM SHOWING

    Snag a chair and some popcorn because the Reel Rock 17 film tour is coming to Field Station Moab for a free one-night-only showing. For two decades, Reel Rock has been spotlighting the biggest stories from the world of climbing. Everyone from rock jocks to casual enthusiasts are welcome.

    MAY 27 – 28

    MOAB ARTS FESTIVAL

    Cool art, tasty food, and fun for the whole family… What’s better than that?! Head to Swanny Park the last weekend in May to feast your eyes on fine art, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, sculpture, clothing, and photography while enjoying live music, theatrical performances, and more at this annual fest. 

    JUNE 18 – 24

    DESERT RATS 150

    Ready for an adventure and a true test of endurance? The Desert RATS 150 is a six-day supported foot race that covers a distance of approximately 143 miles. This multi-day ultramarathon kicks off in Loma, Colorado and ends in Moab — and winds its way past some spectacular landscape along the Kokopelli Trail.

    JUNE 30

    MOAB FREE CONCERT SERIES: SHAMARR ALLEN

    By way of the Big Easy, Shamarr Allen brings his jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk, blues and country music mashup to Swanny Park. Allen has collaborated with Willie Nelson, Patti LaBelle, Harrick Connick Jr, and Lenny Kravitz — and always brings down the house. 

    JULY 7 – 9

    STAY OUT THERE FEST

    Field Station Moab hosts a weekend of desert immersion with in-the-field demos and clinics, educational workshops and talks, peer-to-peer learning, pop-up food and beverage, fireside storytelling, and more. (This event is available to Field Station guests and its partners.)

    AUGUST 4

    MOAB FREE CONCERT SERIES: KALETA & SUPER YAMBA BAND

    Brooklyn’s Kaleta & Super Yamba Band are fronted by Afrobeat and Juju veteran Leon Ligan-Majek (a.k.a. Kaleta). Hailing from Nigeria, where Afrobeat was born, Kaleta’s guitar chops earned him decades of touring and recording gigs with Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Lauryn Hill, and more. 

    AUGUST 20 – 23

    WESTWATER CANYON MUSICAL RAFT TRIP

    Rafting on the Colorado River is always a good time. But rafting on the Colorado River with live jazz is next level. Brought to you by the Moab Music Festival, this leisurely, open-air boat trip features hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages and the musical stylings of the Hot House West Quartet.
